Mikey DeTemple is a professional surfer, filmmaker, photographer, and model. He directed his first film, Picaresque, in 2009, at age twenty-five. The film won immediate regard for its lush cinematography, controlled pacing and stirring soundtrack. His follow-up film, Sight/Sound (2010), shot on location in Central America, the Maritime provinces, New York, the Bahamas, Mexico, and Maine, was nominated for best cinematography by Surfer Magazine’s Surfer Poll Awards and named Video of the Year by Eastern Surfing MagazineSight/Sound was the best-selling surf film of 2011.

Mikey has directed short films and shot still photography for editorial and commercial clients, including, most recently, Apple, Finlandia, GAP, GQ, Olympus, Vogue, and Jack Spade.

Mikey lives in Brooklyn and Montauk, New York.
